Seeds of Diversity is a Canadian organization committed to encouraging and ensuring the longetivity and existence of Canadian food products. In particular, Seeds of Diversity focuses on maintaining heirloom and endangered varieties of Canadian crops.

Their advocacy work also focuses on the corporate sector, working to convince seed companies and other distributors and businesses to emphasize these endangered varieties in order to ensure they stick around. As a part of these goals, Seeds of Diversity also concentrates on education and awareness-raising about Canadian crops, their sources, and issues of genetic alteration.

You can join Seeds of Diversity as a member, if this type of work is in your interest. Members enjoy special benefits like a magazine publication, etc. But you can also take advantage of Seeds of Diversity tools and projects as a non-member. Check out their library to read up on some of these issues, the events page to get involved in the heritage gardening/seed protection community, or some of their national projects (focuses on Canadian garlic, tomatoes, etc.)
