MAWO Monthly Antiwar Anti-Occupation Rally & Petition Campaign!
SATURDAY January 31
Vancouver Art Gallery
Robson Street at Hornby Street
Downtown Vancouver, Canada
On Saturday January 31, Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) is calling on peace-loving people in Vancouver to join us in the streets for our first antiwar rally and petition campaign of 2015! As we look back on the last 12 months it is clear that the US-led war machine has continued the assault on oppressed people around the world through the ever-expanding new era of war and occupation with massive military aggression. Since October of 2001, with the start of the new era of war and occupation, the world has already seen the complete destruction of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, and now Syria is in a constant state of U.S. fomented division and civil war.
Following the attack on the offices of the Charlie Hebdo magazine in France, there has been rise in Islamophobia in imperialist countries, coupled with the introduction of more and more so-called anti-terrorist legislation that threatens basic civil liberties. Mobilization Against War and Occupation (MAWO) condemns the terrorist attack in France, however, we also condemn all forms of terrorism, including state terrorism, which is used by imperialist countries including France, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S. We stand strongly against Islamophobia and the assault on civil liberties that is being organized and promoted by imperialist governments and the Western mainstream media. On January 31 we invite you to join us to demand "No to Islamophobia! No to War! No to Occupation!"
Canada's role in Iraq is not a question of whether it is a "combat" role or not. With over 600 military personnel and special forces, six CF-18 fighter jets, a refueling tanker aircraft and two surveillance planes there as part of an air combat mission, it is clear that the government of Canada is fully complicit in this newest brutal addition to the legacy of foreign wars and occupations that have devastated Iraq and killed millions of people.
Join MAWO in the streets of Vancouver, Canada to demand:
U.S./FRANCE/CANADA & ALL IMPERIALISTS HANDS OFF IRAQ!
NO TO NEW U.S. WAR ON IRAQ!
U.S. & CANADA HANDS OFF SYRIA!
NO TO ISLAMOPHOBIA!
END THE BLOCKADE OF GAZA!
SELF-DETERMINATION FOR PALESTINE!
END THE BLOCKADE OF CUBA!
U.S./EU/NATO/CANADA: HANDS OFF UKRAINE!
U.S. HANDS OFF VENEZUELA!
Lift All Sanctions Against Iran!
Free Private Manning, Soldier of Humanity!
No to U.S. Drones!
U.S. and All Imperialists Out of Afghanistan Now!
Hands Off North Africa and the Middle East!
Self-Determination for Indigenous Nations and All Oppressed Nations!
Money for Jobs, Housing, Healthcare and Education, Not for War and Occupation!
No to War and Occupation! Yes to Self-Determination!

Thank you for reading this story…
More people are reading rabble.ca than ever and unlike many news organizations, we have never put up a paywall – at rabble we’ve always believed in making our reporting and analysis free to all, while striving to make it sustainable as well. Media isn’t free to produce. rabble’s total budget is likely less than what big corporate media spend on photocopying (we kid you not!) and we do not have any major foundation, sponsor or angel investor. Our main supporters are people and organizations -- like you. This is why we need your help. You are what keep us sustainable.
rabble.ca has staked its existence on you. We live or die on community support -- your support! We get hundreds of thousands of visitors and we believe in them. We believe in you. We believe people will put in what they can for the greater good. We call that sustainable.
So what is the easy answer for us? Depend on a community of visitors who care passionately about media that amplifies the voices of people struggling for change and justice. It really is that simple. When the people who visit rabble care enough to contribute a bit then it works for everyone.
And so we’re asking you if you could make a donation, right now, to help us carry forward on our mission. Make a donation today.
