Full Moon Teachings:
In Aboriginal teachings, the moon is known as the Grandmother Moon. Women’s natural rhythms are connected to the changing cycles of the moon.

For this reason, we come together as women when Grandmother Moon’s light is the fullest. In her light, we are able to connect with the brightness of our own inner light, to heal and to celebrate womanhood. The Spirit of Grandmother Moon hears our deepest prayers.

Our Indigenous grandmothers teach us that when the moon is full, it is time for women’s prayer to be expressed. Prayer is a powerful energy that supports us in manifesting the deep wishes that emerge from the within. In community and in circle, our prayer amplifies in our consciousness and in creation.

Additional ancient spiritual teachings are shared in depth by Jamie Samms in her book, The Thirteen Clan Mothers. Here as in many Aboriginal traditions, teachings of the 13 Spiritual Moons help guide us to the truth.

An overview of each full moon teaching based on The Thirteen Clan Mothers will be posted every month to serve you on your path of truth, healing and prayer.
Read on the author, elder and teacher Jamie Samms,

Thirteen Clan Mothers, Your Sacred Path to Discovering the Gifts, Talents and Abilities of the Feminine Through the Ancient Teachings of the Sisterhood (1994: Harper One).

I invite you to reflect on these teachings as Grandmother’s Light shines in her fullest. Create some space to reflect on how to integrate the teachings in your life. What will your prayer be? Feel it become real in your whole body. Give thanks and Share it with your sisters.
