Beisan Zubi: The power and responsibility of amateur journalists

In this clip, Beisan Zubi highlights the dangers of sharing misinformation in a time of crisis on social media, the changing face of journalism, as well as highlights the power of on-the-ground, amateur journalists sharing the truth as they experience it day by day.

“The point of misinformation isn’t necessarily to be convincing, it’s to be confusing. It’s to make it so that people don’t know what the reality is, and they excuse themselves from having to be the arbiter of ‘what is true,’ ‘who can I trust’ if you can’t trust anybody, right?” – Beisan Zubi

This is a clip from rabble’s most recent live politics panel: Off the Hill: Media accountability and covering Gaza Guests this month included Beisan Zubi, El Jones, Chris Farris Zabaneh and Karl Nerenberg. Co-hosted by Robin Browne and Nick Seebruch.
