Dear rabble readers,
We’re in the final few weeks of our summer fundraiser – and we need your help!
Last summer, we were so grateful to receive wage funding for seven amazing journalists through Canada Summer Jobs, the Technation Career Ready Program, the Aid to Publisher grant and more.
This summer, however, we unfortunately did not receive wage funding from both Canada Summer Jobs and the Technation Career Ready Program. This was not due to our application value, but because both programs simply weren’t able to offer as many organizations funding as previous summers.
Due to this lack of funding, we were not able to introduce new writers into our newsroom this summer, which is disappointing, of course, as part of our mission at rabble is to be an organization that provides new journalists an opportunity to get their foot in the door.
It also means we may need to share a bit less content this summer than what you’re used to.
This isn’t so much a problem during the hot summer months – but autumn will be here before we know it; and with it, comes back to school, back to Parliament, and back to our regularly scheduled political coverage and monthly digital events.
And so, we look to you!
In order to keep sharing the news you’ve come to rely on, we’ll need your support to help bolster our newsroom.
Funding for our staff and writers comes through wage subsidies, sustaining partners, advertising – and of course, the generous support from our readers.
If you would like to support the development of our newsroom, please consider making a one-time or monthly donation today.
