Elgg is an open source social networking platform that provides an online space for networking, blogging, file sharing and newsfeed aggregation. It was released under the GPL license in August 2008.
Elgg is notable in that it allows for private, intranet-style communities in addition to the open networks favoured by other social networking platforms.
