The recent anti-abortion laws passed in the United States took years of organizing to achieve and, let’s make no mistake about it, there is a growing Canadian movement which supports similar laws.

Recently the CBC and 660 News posted informative pieces about how the anti-abortion movement is reinventing itself, recruiting young people and morphing into a bigger and bigger political force. Despite the fact that according to polls, most Canadians are pretty happy with the status quo regarding choice in Canada, according to these articles, there exists a well-organized, politically-savvy movement rebranding whole abortion conversation. They are also very actively trying to elect “pro-life candidates” at every level, from the school boards all the way up to MPs.

The Canadian anti-abortion movement has made great inroads, as we’ve seen in Ontario and Alberta, where they were very active in electing both province’s new premiers. Now, Andrew Scheer is telling anti-abortion activists that he will let Conservative MPs reopen the debate.  

Unless we start making a noise about the fact that we support choice, they will have more wins. Here are a few quick actions to take:
