A Letter from the Publisher and Editor in Chief of rabble.ca
Dear rabble readers:
rabble.ca is in serious jeopardy. We need your help today to continue publishing.
Despite our polished appearance, rabble is not adequately funded. We received very good support for our launch in April, but the plan was always to achieve sustainable revenues as soon as possible. Soon is now.
Almost 2,000 readers are coming to rabble every day. If each one of you made a contribution of $20 a month — thats less than a Globe and Mail subscription — we would have enough to cover our yearly budget. If you want to continue reading rabble news, debating in babble and asking auntie.com for her sage advice, please make your contribution now.
rabble.ca is the most popular and well-read independent national publication in Canada. In September alone, rabble attracted more than 47,000 readers and 3.5-million hits. It is the only alternative publication that produces new material daily. Not bad for a Website that’s only been online for a few months.
Unfortunately, success on the Internet does not easily translate into money. While we are confident that rabble is viable in the long term, through various forms of ad revenue and grants, our survival over the next few months depends on you, our readers.
In the short time that we have been around, rabble has become an essential tool for progressive people to keep informed, to share information and to debate issues. Please help us keep it alive.
With this letter, we are launching a “rabble-raiser” campaign. Our immediate goal is $25,000 by the end of October. Please take a moment to contribute. This will be one of those rare spending decisions that will make an immediate difference.
Think about what rabble.ca — and you — can do in the future.
