Woot! It’s Friday!

Do you have case of the Feel Gross Fridays? Take a dose of vitamin Feel Good Friday! Okay, that was cheesy. But, it made you smirk didn’t it?

This week, we’ve got lots of great news including MRA benefit concerts getting cancelled, comedians pulling one over on Sun News and OMG Reading Rainbow may be coming back!

Read on lovelies:

  • Laverne Cox graces the cover of Time magazine, becoming the first transgender person to do so and has a print and video feature focusing on her life and activism. Give it a read!
  • Take a look, it’s in a book, and it may be coming back to tv! LeVar Burton has raised over $2 million to bring back Reading Rainbow and help fight childhood illiteracy.
  • Please tell me you saw the video of comedian Scott Vrooman on Sun News talking about CBC cuts. If not, read his open letter to Sun News and then just email him for a copy. OH WAIT. You can watch it right here. “That’s an excellent point Adrienne, unions didn’t get us worker safety regulations and a ban on child labour. Those things were generously offered by rich men who were visited by ghosts and filled with the Christmas spirit.” CLASSIC.
  • There’s something so great about a twitter campaign backfiring, especially when that original campaign is utterly racist and awful. The Washington Redskins decided to do some “damage control” and have fans tweet what the team means to them. The results were amazing.
  • FEMINIST WIN! An MRA benefit concert scheduled this weekend was cancelled after this article and a social media campaign. All right!
  • If you haven’t seen this video of a whale being rescued from netting and then celebrating, go watch it right now. I apologize for the happy tears you are about to release.
  • A top Greek court has ruled that water privatization could put public health at risk. Now that’s water justice in action.

Did you see the dog and the owl friendship? Too hilarious.
