Are you frustrated by what seems to be an unstoppable trend fueling anger and intolerance, growing fascism and turning people out to vote for self serving, racist, attention seekers like Faith Goldy and Kevin Johnston in Ontario, and across Canada?
People have been sharing tools to engage each other face to face, and coming out to rallies and protests to stop hate and doxxing people after they are found to be engaging in hate speech. However, how do we diffuse and undermine the impact of influencers, trolls, fascists and fake news?
The BRICkS project of the European Union examines this question and has worked with web users and influencers to develop modules to combat hate and fake news being disseminated by ‘influencers.’ The modules are available online and may be useful for educators.
