OpenOffice is a full featured office suite, most notable for its use as a Free and Open Source alternative to Microsoft Office. OpenOffice was released under the GNU General Public License in October 2000 by Sun Microsystems. It is a cross-platform software package, meaning it works under a variety of operating systems including Windows, Linux and Mac OS/X. It can also open, read and save works in the Microsoft Office format. OpenOffice is available in over 80 languages.
