This is an official report on the effects of climate change in Alberta, commissioned by former NDP environment minister Shannon Phillips, and submitted to the United Conservative Party government in August 2019, and withheld from the public until February 21, 2020.
The report summarizes observed climatic changes across Canada and Alberta. It briefly discusses the causes of climate change and the methodology for the detection and causal attribution of long-term trends and changes in the frequency or intensity of extreme events. The report summarizes observed and projected changes for more than 30 climate indicators, from the temperature of the coldest day of the year to average precipitation during the growing season. Future simulations are generated using a set of global climate models under higher and lower emissions scenarios, statistically downscaled to a high-resolution grid covering the entire province.
Basically this official set of simulations and analysis shows what Alberta is doing to the climate and what climate change will mean for Albertans. Do read it and use these facts to hold government spin doctors accountable.
