Hey everyone,
I wanted to shout out a new resource for activists on working as an ally with marginalized communities. It’s good to have a Canadian (Southern Ontario) based hub for anti-oppression information and contacts.
“Finally, a website dedicated to empowering allies. Here you will find practical guidelines on how to support survivors of abuse and oppression, as well as informative insights on what support means and can look like.”
About the project:
“This website subscribes to a general theory and practice of anarchism and equality.
‘… we work towards the creation of a global network of communities formed by voluntary agreements based on co-operation and respect for the freedom of others. We oppose all forms of oppression including sexism, racism, religious intolerance, discrimination on the basis of sexuality, class structures, the governing of one person by another and any other form of authoritarianism of hierarchy that might happen along.
… we work towards the creation of a global network of communities formed by voluntary agreements based on co-ooperation and respect for the freedom of others. Our conception, similar to the more-well-known wording of anarchists displayed on the patch above, is that of solidarity with anyone facing oppression. The goal here is to provide resources for people struggling to combat oppression.
Alliance and solidarity with those facing oppressions means having to both recognize the ways in which we, as individuals, are oppressed, as well as the ways in which we, as individuals, hold privileges that may put us in a position to have oppressive behaviours. Solidarity and alliance means taking steps toward challenging our own behaviours and attitudes, as well as the behaviours and attitudes of the system as a whole.
In other words, this blog will aim to consistently be:
• anti-oppressive and anti-authoritarian
• pro-consent and pro-autonomy
• non-judgemental and open minded
• aware of the fact that all struggle is related and that oppressions are intersecting rather than isolated into only “class”, or only “gender”, or only “race”, etc.

So please keep checking out this new site.
