Well hello there! It’s Feel Good Friday.
I’m going to skip even mentioning anything in the “bad news” category and go right to the good stuff.
We’ve got amazing activist moments, Donald Trump (wait, what?), IAN CAMPEAU, food news and fun.
It’s all there — so just dive in and get you some good news.
- “Anti-homeless spikes.” AWFUL. So activists poured concrete all over some to rectify that terrible, terrible problem.
- All right! Toronto has moved ahead with its plan to be a sanctuary city
- It’s aliiiiiiive! Clickhole is aliiiiive … and it is freakin’ hilarious
- This phone number will text you back a bell hooks quote. It is designed to protect privacy while deterring unwanted calls.
- WIN! A proposed Red Deer County Markerville-area gravel pit application was rejected
- I could not stop laughing at (with?) this blog post. The headline says it all: “I made up a fake Donald Trump quote, and he retweeted it“
- The “Proud to Be” campaign is SO. GREAT. (So when will Washington’s NFL team wake up and change their name?)
- In similar #changethename news, Ian Campeau is great, and I would like to be best friends with him
- In a near unanimous vote, a Toronto council backed the push for a 24-hour women’s drop-in centre
- The Link newspapers produced a pretty great piece on resisting femme invisibility. Give it a read!
- rabble’s launching our “Best of rabble” book!
- Has this week been tough for ya? It’s been tough right. Well, have you ever considered trying a fetal position desk? #lolz
- This is filed under “maybe good news for some”: UN urges global move to meat and dairy-free diet
- A new study shows that being cool in high school is actually bad for you. Welp, looks like things are going to get better for me…
- Monsanto is having a rough go it seems. But, WHO CARES! Oregon Counties Vote to Ban GMO Crops
- Here’s a great book list to help diversify kids’ reading lists (and maybe yours?) this summer
- Colorado weed sales are up — $19 million of up — and what do they do? They improve their schools and reduce their overall crime rates
- This listicle on Destiny’s Child just made me laugh
- Oh, and this picture of a kitten doing a handstand appeared in my inbox this morning
