I hate the phrase ‘a case of the Mondays’ for various reasons. But, I have to admit, I had a case of the Mondays this week.
Emails were void of exclamation marks and emoticons. Shark-related movies and shows remained unwatched. It was chaos.
Luckily, researching this week’s Feel Good Friday kicked me right out of the Bitter Barn and placed me in the Happy Hay! (Yea. I just said that.)
So without further ado, here is this week’s Feel Good Friday just in case you need a little pick me up. Or Happy Hay.
Enjoy!
- What? Oh nothing, just the Morgentaler Clinic in Fredericton, N.B. hit its fundraising goal to stay open. Incredible! Now to tackle those antiquated laws in N.B…
- This GOP candidate fails so hard it almost makes this funny. Who needs facts or “correct information” when one can just assume things and then sensationalize them?
- This isn’t feel good, but this is a good initiative to counteract the federal cuts to the “Sisters in Spirit” database. Get more info here.
- #animalselfies are the new hip thing. Get hip.
- Teen who filed a human rights complaint to Edmonton school about an anti-abortion centre teaching part of sex-ed: 1, abstinence education in Edmonton: 0
- Shoni Schimmel balls so hard she has WNBA’s top-selling jersey and a starting spot in the WNBA all-star game.
- The women of Canada’s labour movement, everyone.
- People are really jazzed that Marvel’s Thor is now a woman. Casting for the comic has already begun I assume.
- On Monday, protestors erected a blockade at at Enbridge’s Line 9 site to prevent work on the disaster-waiting-to-happen, or sorry, Line 9.
- And then on Thursday, individuals from Six Nations and other allies interrupted the ‘integrity dig’ of Line 9 presumably because (1) “seriously. You called it an ‘integrity dig?’ You guys are the worst” went through their heads, and (2) Line 9 needs to be shut down.
- A South Portland council has backed a tar sands ban. No tar sands shall touch the city.
- If I could look as cool as this dog driving a car, then I would probably drive a car. But I don’t, so I won’t. Plus I hate driving. And cars.
- ‘This is a Stereotype’ is a film project asking people to think critically when making decisions regarding culture and appropriation.
- Here’s some definitive proof from Colorado that providing access to birth control (and information!) can lower teen pregnancy rates, drop the number of abortions and save a ton of $$.
- Jim Munro of the famous Munro’s Books in Victoria, B.C. has decided to retire. And with that, has given his store to his four staff members.
- How has it taken this long for a tumblr with Beyonce song lyrics superimposed over women politicians to be made? #flawless
- The U.S. has updated its federal pregnancy discrimination guidelines for the first time in 30 years. To paraphrase: you can’t discriminate against people who were, are, or might be pregnant.
- This woman is a beast and just dominated this obstacle course on this terribly named tv show.
- This Lisa Simpson gif captures my TGIF feelings.
