Melissa Fong is a graduate student at the University of Toronto completing her thesis on anti-poverty social movements. Originally from Vancouver, she completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology and Geography at the University of British Columbia where she researched homelessness and gentrification. Melissa also holds a degree in Teacher Education and practiced as a public school teacher for several years before deciding to pursue academic research full time. Melissa is an advocate for The Right to the City Movement and continues to do work in issues that support structural equity.
