Thea Baines is a graduate student at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, as well as the Centre for Criminology and Socio-Legal Studies. Her research focuses on intimate partner violence against women (IPVAW) and the ways social policy can be leveraged to understand and address this issue. Actively involved with the feminist movement, she has volunteered with anti-violence services in Vancouver and Toronto. Last summer, she brought her expertise to the International Development Law Organization, contributing to research on community justice centers and the elimination of discriminatory laws. In all her advocacy and academic work, Thea upholds a deep ethic of care and an unwavering commitment to justice.
