A motion introduced by Mayor Robertson to make the City of Vancouver a Living Wage Employer was debated July 8 at the Standing Committee on City Finance and Services and passed unanimously. This means that direct employees and employees of companies that have city contracts will have to be paid a minimum of $20.68 when this new policy is enacted. Currently City of Vancouver staff are developing the plan to implement this new rule.
