Dear rabble readers,

July 5 was a historic day for climate action and our jobs future in Canada.

More than 10,000 people came together for jobs, justice, and the climate in Toronto. It’s the first time that I know of where solid links are being made between climate and social justice, and among unions, environmental groups, Indigenous peoples, immigrants, and people of colour. And our cross-sector movement is not just saying what we are against but what we are for.

…and The Globe and Mail did not even bother to cover it in their paper “of record”.

You can’t rely on the mainstream media to keep you informed of many of the most important developments in the environmental and social justice struggles, not to mention the debates and discussions among progressives. That’s why I founded rabble.ca and this year, with what is the most important election in decades, rabble.ca is more critical than ever.

Canada needs independent media to tell the stories critical to our climate, social justice, and jobs future. When we launched rabble.ca we reached 40,000 people a month — now rabble regularly reaches a half million readers in Canada and around the world. Chipping in a few bucks is critical to rabble’s future and is all you need to do to help rabble.ca report on the stories big media is passing by.

rabble.ca has been a vessel of progressive organizing in Canada since it was founded. All the new movements that have emerged in Canada, from Idle No More to the Maple Spring, appeared first on on rabble. Help rabble continue to be at the forefront of social change in Canada, covering the issues ignored by the likes of the Globe
