How to pitch
Conditions of freelance contracts
1 All commissions fall under the terms of our terms & conditions.
2 At the time of commissioning, you and your editor should agree terms, including the fee to be paid, the deadline, length etc. and the main points to be covered in your contribution. rabble.ca will send you a confirmation by email.
3 All fees are subject to rabble’s rates and will be paid within 30 days of publication unless otherwise agreed in advance. Details concerning rabble’s terms of payment can be found here.
4 You acknowledge and agree that:
a) You will observe the highest ethical standards, including abiding by rabble’s own journalism policy and social media best practice guidelines for freelance contributors, and co-operating fully with rabble.ca in the event of a complaint about your work;
b) You shall inform rabble.ca immediately of any actual or potential conflict of interest;
c) You shall not bring rabble.ca’s reputation into disrepute;
d) Your work shall be your own and of the highest quality, and shall not be defamatory or constitute contempt of court;
e) Any material in your work which is sourced from others shall be properly attributed, and all facts substantiated and checked for accuracy (on submitting your contribution, any concerns regarding factual accuracy should be declared to your editor);
f) Your work may be edited as we see fit, usually for clarity, length and tone, and you will respond to any request for information, fact-checking or changes in a timely manner; and
g) Any use of anonymous sources shall be agreed with your editor in advance of submitting your contribution.
