On June 15, 1944, the [[Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF)]] (precursor to the NDP) swept to power in Saskatchewan in a landslide election victory under leader [[Tommy Douglas]].
The CCF was the first openly socialist government in Canadian history, and laid the groundwork for development and adoption of Universal Health Care.
