Babble Book Club’s next selection is People Park by Pasha Malla, an apocalyptic and dizzying multiple narrative tale about isolation and displacement set in an unnamed island city.

This selection will wrap up Tuesday January 15 at 8:30 p.m. EST/5:30 p.m. PST in the babble book lounge with a final discussion of the book in its entirety. Everyone who has read the book — or parts of the book, or just wants to discuss it — is invited to come share their opinion of the read and discuss the book with others in the forum. Since this is an online book club, we have the added bonus of discussing the book during our reading process. Readers who enjoy and potentially prefer to discuss the book with other readers as they move along the story are encouraged and invited to share their thoughts on the open babble thread.

At Babble Book Club we encourage lots of discussion about all the various and engrossing aspects of the read, especially the opinions from our readers. The Babble Book Club is always a welcoming place for new users to join, on-and-off readers to rediscover and seasoned veterens to show the ropes!

For those wanting to join the Babble Book Club discussion, here are some easy steps and tips:

1. To ask questions and submit comments, you must register as a rabble.ca user, which creates an account that allows access to babble. babble is rabble.ca’s discussion board and online community where users can discuss ideas and opinions and signing up is free and easy. Any questions about babble can be answered or asked on this thread as well as the babble FAQ page.

2. The Babble Book Club sets up babble threads before our final discussion to promote ongoing conversation — check out our existing thread for People Park. A babble thread just means the “page” where various babble users (babblers) can post their comments and questions. Babblers post in “real-time” and can also quote other users, use emoticons or post links!

3. Our final discussion will take place Tuesday January 15 at 8:30 p.m. EST/5:30 p.m. PST in “real-time,” which just means more Babble Book Club members will be present at this time for a more interactive conversation. After the “official discussion” the thread will remain open for readers to post additional questions and comments; however, they may not be responded to immediately!

People Park will be an interesting read about community and human connection, the kaleidoscope of human character and the experimentation of prose and narrative. So everyone grab a copy from your local library, favourite bookstore or Canadian publisher House of Anansi and join the Babble Book Club for the read!

See you in the book lounge!
