For a fourth time, rabble has been nominated under the “Best Website” category at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA).

Since 2021, rabble has been nominated under various incarnations of the Best Website category, winning silver that year for Best Community News Website. The following year, rabble also won silver, this time in the Best News/Sports Site category.

rabble once again was nominated, and won silver, under the Best News/ Sports Site category for the 2024 COPA’s as well.

“I think this year’s nomination show’s rabble.ca’s commitment to high quality, daily journalism across multiple different media,” said rabble’s editor Nick Seebruch of this year’s nomination.

“Whether it be for daily news articles, our weekly podcasts, or rabble’s live Off the Hill webinar series, our team is consistently delivering high quality news content from an independent and progressive perspective,” he added.

Best Patriotic Story

rabble also received a nomination for Best Patriotic Story for columnist Erin Blondeau’s article titled “Fight fascism with climate justice, not ‘Canada First’ nationalism.”

In this column Blondeau discussed the rise of far-right extremism in North America and how protecting the climate in Canada could be a national unifying project.

Best Column

Another of rabble’s columnists, Charlotte Sheasby, was also recognized with a nomination at this year’s COPAs.

Sheasby’s column titled “The Conservatives love battered women,” which discusses the hypocrisy of the Conservative Party’s tough on crime stance while ignoring the institutional violence that women, especially trans women, face.

This is the second time one of Charlotte’s columns has been nominated in this category.

Best Multicultural Story

rabble believes that multiculturalism is a strength and we are very proud when we are able to showcase multiculturalism in our coverage.

Last year rabble published an article by John Price on the Whalers Washing House artefacts that were being repatriated to the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation from the US after 100 years.

This article has been nominated for Best Multicultural Story at this year’s COPAs.
