River Run 2012 Fish Fry

It’s been a jam-packed, very busy, super interesting week for rabble blogs. Here’s what you might have missed:

Krystalline Kraus had all the info about River Run 2012 in support of Grassy Narrows, an indigenous community whose river was poisoned by a Dryden mill 50 years ago.

There’s one more event in Toronto, at noon — check out the details, and get out if you can!

On Monday, John Bonnar wrote on the continuing legacy of mercury poisoning in the Grassy Narrows community. Yesterday, he pointed out Premier McGuinty’s conspicuous absence from the River Run 2012 Fish Fry.

On Wednesday, Mercedes Allen explained why she will likely no longer support Bill C-279 if it is amended to include a definition for gender identity. On Thursday, she covered Alberta’s reinstatement of coverage for sex reassignment surgery.

Thomas Saczkowski broke down Alberta’s Wildrose Alliance in a couple of blog posts. Check out part one and part two.

This week, Pamela Palmeter, Mi’kmaw lawyer and professor at Ryerson University, launched a campaign for national chief of the Assembly of First Nations. She also blogged on Monday about barely veiled racism on the part of Conservative Ministers.

And, as usual, rabble bloggers provided excellent coverage of Quebec student protests. Be sure to read this letter of solidarity from Chilean students, and this open letter from Quebec student reps, for a small sample of what we’ve got!
