If you have been reading my daily reports of an extraordinary journey through the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, you know that life for the people there has never been worse. At the same time, the people continue to live their lives as best they can. One man told me his favourite movie is Life is Beautiful. He loved the way the lead character protected his son from the horrors around him by making a concentration camp into a game. “I try to do that with my children,” he said with a smile. I hope the photos in this slide show not only illustrate the conflict close up series but the contradictory experience of visiting the Holy Land in conflict, too.
