rabble.ca is excited to officially welcome Madison Edward-Wright as the Jack Layton Journalism for Change fellow for Winter 2022/23.

Based in Montreal, QC, Edward-Wright discovered her love for journalism while completing her undergraduate degree at McGill University. Her work has appeared in The Tribune and she will be featured in Briarpatch Magazine’s March/April 2024 issue. She is passionate about investigative journalism and strives to elevate 2SLGBTQI+, BIPOC, and other marginalized voices through her social justice-oriented reporting.

“We are excited to welcome Madison Edward-Wright as our 2023/2024 Jack Layton fellow, says rabble.ca editor Nick Seebruch. “I feel that this fellowship is one of the most important services that rabble provides in that it gives us the opportunity to help support the next generation of dedicated progressive journalists like Madison. She has already shown an eagerness to learn and a strong sense for progressive news stories that are missing from the main stream, and we look forward to sharing work from her in the coming weeks.”

A fellowship inspired by hope and social justice

In partnership with the Institute for Change Leaders, rabble.ca debuted the Jack Layton Journalism for Change Fellowship in 2017, named after the late former leader of the federal New Democratic Party who inspired all of Canada with his message of hope, solidarity and unwavering dedication to social justice.

The fellowship supports journalists at the beginning of their careers who have a passion for social justice-centered reporting.

Our fellowship would not be possible without the financial support of our partners, the Douglas Coldwell Layton Foundation and the Institute for Change Leaders. We encourage our readers to check out both incredible organizations today.
