This week on rabble radio, we talk about CEO pay verses average worker pay.

In our first episode of 2023, rabble editor Nick Seebruch sits down with economist David Macdonald to discuss the huge wage disparity between CEO pay and average workers’ salaries in Canada.

On Tuesday last week, the CCPA released a report outlining the new all-time high for CEO pay in 2021. According to the report, the top 100 best-paid chief executive officers (CEOs) in Canada made 243 times what the typical worker earns.

But why is this enormous wage gap happening, and how? Why does it seem to be that a pandemic and inflation is hitting average Canadians so hard and seemingly having the opposite effect on CEOs? And can anything be done to even out the playing field?

Seebruch and Macdonald break down all of this and more.
