A judge has ruled that the eviction order against the Occupy Toronto camp can stand and the protesters must leave St. James Park. Justice David Brown rejected the argument that the camp, which has been at the park for five weeks, was protected under Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
This means Toronto City Council can now dismantle the camp. Other Occupy camps in Canada, including those in Vancouver, Victoria, and Edmonton, and faced similar results in court in the last week.
rabble.ca technology columnist Wayne MacPhail was there to capture the mood at the camp following the decision.
