Thursday — Toronto East Side March to Stop Ford’s cuts
The deets:
Thursday, August 25, 2011
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Allan Gardens (Sherbourne & Carlton)
Toronto
The call out:
Join us for a free community meal, followed by a lively tour of Rob Ford’s proposed path of destruction in the Downtown East!
Rob Ford’s cuts would devastate our community. Daycares, community centres, public housing, libraries, parks, and shelters for the homeless — this and more is at risk! Join fellow community members and workers as we gather to march through our neighbourhood, stopping at public services to celebrate what is ours and send a clear message to the mayor and his friends on Bay Street that our community will come together to Stop the Cuts!!
For more information, please see: Stop the Cuts
The Toronto Stop the Cuts Network is a group of community organizations and concerned individuals who are fighting to stop cuts to our city services
As you may have heard, the mayor wants to cut $800 million from the city’s budget. Everything from your local community center and library, to shelters and health services are currently under review. Unless we act now, many of the valuable services that communities depend on may be shut down over the next few months.
This is why we demand:
Stop the Ford cuts!
More city services for all!
No handouts to cops and corporations!
Our strength comes from people uniting to fight back. Together we can win the fight against Ford’s cuts and take back our city.

We encourage people in other parts of the city to do the People’s Poll (http://bit.ly/TorontoPeoplesPoll), hold neighborhood meetings, identify cuts in your community, participate in mass meetings and mobilizations in September.
