It’s only the third full week of January and we already have our work cut out for us in 2025.

The president-elect of the United States is threatening Canada with “economic force” as he seriously discusses annexing our country to become the “51st state.”

Canada is set to have a federal election of its own in just a few months, with an anti-union, anti-2SLGBTQIA+, anti-working class, far-right extremists set to win a majority government.

Last year, Pierre Poilievre proved that he will always choose his personal political fortunes over the good of the country when he refused to get a security clearance to learn about foreign interference in his own party.

If Poilievre becomes prime minister, platforming progressive voices will be the only way to ensure that hard-won social programs and the cause of civil rights will be defended, and the interests of working Canadians will be heard.

That’s why independent, progressive media like rabble.ca is more essential than ever. We’ve been committed to providing the in-depth coverage and diverse perspectives that hold power accountable and keep voters informed since day one. In an election year, this mandate becomes all the more necessary.

Help us amplify the voices that matter and support a more informed, engaged, and active democracy—your contribution makes all the difference.

We’ve made 70 per cent of our fundraising goal for our winter campaign so far. Help us reach our total goal this January to support the growth of rabble’s newsroom, an improved mobile site experience and more. Donate today here. Every bit counts!
