Dear rabble readers,

We are at a turning point for progressive politics in Canada. In the most recent federal election, the NDP lost Official Party Status in The House of Commons, winning just seven seats. After nearly eight years as leader, Jagmeet Singh has stepped down.. For their part, The Green Party won just a single seat.

This is a time of transition for Canada’s progressive politics. And it is vital that progressive outlets have the resources to cover the transition thoroughly. The NDP will choose their next leader in March of 2026, and rabble.ca wants to cover every development as it unfolds.

The next leader of the NDP will have a significant impact on how the party’s policies develop. They will help to define the progressive Left’s stance on the key issues of our time, from climate change to labour rights and reconciliation.

We do not yet know what the full field of candidates will look like, but there will doubtlessly be different views on the direction the Party should take going forward. Our team is ready to cover those debates over The NDP’s future, and we need the help of readers like you to empower us to do so.

The excellent reporters at rabble plan on covering news of who enters the race,  interviewing the major NDP candidates, and highlighting and analysing candidates’ platforms.

The financial contributions we receive ensure we can tell these stories and more, so that our progressive readers can watch the future of Canada’s progressive politics take shape.

In solidarity,
