Dear readers,

Last time I was in touch with you, we were $7,000 shy of our goal. Readers responded and gave us a final push so we could swing right over the top and raise just over $65,000! Maybe you donated to us, shared our letter with your friends and loved ones, or helped us spread the word.

However you chipped in, I want to personally thank you!

And if you (or your friends) would like to contribute and take advantage of our awesome gifts by becoming monthly subscribers — you still have until October 7 to subscribe and receive a copy of Colleen Cardinal’s Ohpikiihaakan-ohpihmeh (Raised somewhere else): A 60s Scoop Adoptee’s Story of Coming Home OR Jackie Traverse’s IKWE: Honouring Women, Life Givers, and Water Protectors.

Let’s face it, we need strong independent media — now more than ever. With the Canadian federal election just weeks away, rabble.ca is here to counter all the false and misleading stories Canada’s corporate-owned media will undoubtedly propagate. Thanks to our community of supporters, rabble.ca is here to sift through the noise and ensure your stories are heard.

Over our summer fundraiser, you’ve heard why independent media is critical to support from a host of incredible activists and journalists. Brent Patterson, Amira Elghawaby, Antonia Zerbisias, Libby Davies, Pam Palmater, Judy Rebick, and president of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Union Linda Silas have all shared compelling and urgent appeals for why a few of your dollars need to go to supporting rabble.ca. But since all the work that we do aims to hold power to account and amplify grassroots voices, we really owe credit to our community of supporters coast to coast — and beyond!

Again, if you haven’t donated yet, there is still time! The good news is that we’ve extended our gift program with amazing books available from Fernwood Publishing until October 7.

Thank you for reading and sharing rabble.ca, and if you are not already running or volunteering in a campaign — please remember to get out there and vote on October 21!

In solidarity,

Kim Elliott,
Publisher, rabble.ca
