Dear readers,

Did you know that we recently finished our 2020 reader survey?

Through it, we checked in with many of you on how you’re doing, how you’re feeling about our coverage, making sense of this year, and planning for the next 12 months of coverage at rabble.ca.

And you showed up! We’re hoping you can show up again to donate — what you can — to help us expand our editorial plans

Thank you to the nearly one thousand of you who filled out the survey and helped us gage how best to focus our powers of grassroots resistance coverage and social-justice journalism.

Your input was essential in helping us hone in on our vision. We have already shifted gears this year to respond to the extraordinary convergence of the pandemic, and the energized resistance in the community, and we are preparing to face whatever comes at us next.

Your feedback in our past surveys led to the development of our Climate Hope series, and also our now regular webinars on federal politics, Off the Hill.

In our most recent survey, not surprisingly, 87 per cent of you expressed worry over the COVID-19 pandemic.

And you also told us that you were specifically concerned about overall growing inequality and austerity in the wake of the current crisis.

We want to continue to explore the issues most important to you — and to us — in 2020 around the pandemic and beyond: public health care, food security, income equality, racial justice, struggles of Indigenous resistance and the future of labour and work.

We guarantee these issues will be at the forefront as we continue to provide a needed space in Canadian media for new writers, and seek out emerging stories from the grassroots.

We are in the early days of our annual summer fundraiser, and we must ensure we make our target of $50,000 this summer to meet all of our expenses. If you can, will you donate now?

In solidarity,

Matthew DiMera, acting editor-in-chief
