Toronto People’s Summit starts tonight with the official launch and features workshops, presentations and change makin’ this weekend at Ryerson University including rabble.ca‘s workshop, “Video Activism 101.” Find details below…
Vancouver People’s Summit is partnering up with Main Street Car Free Day Festival on June 20 to bring together activists and advocates to send a message to leaders that action is needed to end poverty, stop climate change, and make sure the global economy works for everyone.

Video Activism 101
If you want to know how activists can utilize the powerful medium of video to tell their stories…you should check out Tor Sandberg’s workshop, Video Activism 101, at the People’s Summit in Toronto tomorrow!
This workshop will provide basic knowledge and skills for activists documenting protests and actions with video and still cameras, while discussing some of the leading trends and technologies in video-production and distribution.
Topics to be covered:
*Know you rights: How to deal with police and security officials;
*Video-making basics: Shooting, composition, working with available light, focus and shooting on the run; Uploading on location and livestreaming;
*Distribution: Getting your video seen.
