Joan Phillip: ‘The truth has to be number one’

On Saturday, June 24, Joan Phillip won her riding of Vancouver-Mount Pleasant in the recent provincial by-elections, receiving almost 68 per cent of the vote.

Prior to her winning her seat, on June 21, Phillip explained to our panel what she sees as the key issues to solve necessary for reconciliation in B.C. and across the nation.

Joan Phillip is a respected community leader and Indigenous Elder who has dedicated her life to fighting for social justice, human rights, and climate action. Her work experience includes youth counsellor at Britannia School, program director at the Aboriginal Friendship Centre, and lands manager for the Penticton Indian Band.
