MP Leah Gazan: Why political movements matter

In this clip, MP Leah Gazan argues that governments aren’t simply making decisions because it’s the right thing to do, but because of the political pressure from mass movements.

“I think boots-to-ground [movements] matter. I think it’s a powerful movement that’s going to force political change in this country.”

Leah Gazan is Member of Parliament for Winnipeg Centre. She is currently the NDP critic for Children, Families, and Social Development, as well as the deputy critic for Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship. Gazan is a member of Wood Mountain Lakota Nation, located in Saskatchewan, Treaty 4 territory.
