There have recently been many discussions about power and privilege in the music community. Most of these conversations have been online. They have been wrought with hostility and animosity from all ends. A lot of people have questions. A lot of people are tired of giving the answers. If we are to move forward as a supportive, empathetic community of music creators, producers, consumers and critics, we need to have a better understanding of the systemic issues that are unique to Canada’s multicultural landscape. This panel is an attempt and a hope at moving forward as some kind of community.

We want to have a frank discussion about racism, power and privilege in the music industry. For this reason, we would like to give you the space to pose questions and comments anonymously — the kinds of questions that need to be asked, but ones that people might not want to ask in person. Our hope is to provide a safe, non-judgmental place for learning.
