Richard Sharpe: Neo-liberalist media having a toxic effect on culture

Political discourse has become virulently antagonistic and polarized through the help of a clickbait/ rage farm focused mainstream media and demagogues like Jordan Peterson. Richard Sharpe discusses the impacts that this is having on our society.

Richard Sharpe has been a human rights advocate for 30 years, both at the community and institutional levels. Until recently, he worked within the Canadian Federal Public Service. There, he held several national positions representing employees as both a union representative and as a leader in employee-led organizations.

He is currently the director of the Black Equity Branch, Treasury Board Secretariat in the Ontario Public Service. His work regionally and nationally is intended to improve the condition of Black and African diaspora communities in Canada.

This is a clip from rabble’s most recent live politics panel: ‘Off the Hill: Tackling systemic inequalities.’ The panel featured guests MP Matthew Green, Richard Sharpe, Stephen Brown and Karl Nerenberg. With host Robin Browne.
