Support our social change coverage! As a bonus you could win great prizes like a gift certificate to Henry’s camera shop, a Canadian CD music pack and more!
You know things are happening when a mainstream media organization like Time Magazine declares “The Protester” as the Person of the Year. At rabble.ca we have been covering democratic movements and struggles since our launch, over 10 years ago. We do it with contributions from people across Canada and beyond. Please donate today; as a bonus you could win great prizes, including a gift certificate of $250 to Henry’s camera shop.
In the year of the protester and protests, rabble.ca was there. Of course there are far too many articles, blogs, videos, podcasts and discussions to highlight but for example:
• rabble.ca kicked off the year with a piece by Kathleen O’Hara naming in detail the attacks Stephen Harper and his Conservative Party were making on the social fabric of Canada.
• With the Arab spring blossoming Sarah Ghabrial wrote about Egypt and Days of Anger in the Age of Terror.
• Donald Gutstein followed the people, money, power, and connection trail of Canada’s new right-wing television channel dedicated to selling their ideology to the public.
• Helen Polychronakos reported on groups petitioning for limited spots on the Missing Women Commission.
• rabble covered local, regional and national elections across Canada, introduced a reporter to Parliament Hill — for the rest of us, and is keeping a close eye on the NDP Leadership race, while creating a special tribute page for Jack Layton.
• Robert Lovelace, among others, wrote on Attawapiskat and colonialism.
• rabble.ca was the first media site in Canada to have a special section on the #Occupy movement
… and that is just the tip of the iceberg (and yes, we covered the Durban conference, the tar sands, and much more environmental activism and news too!).
Please donate now. Donors who give at least $25 will be entered into a draw to win one of the following thank-you prizes:
• One of two $250 gift certificates to Henry’s camera shop
• One of two collections of Canadian indie music CDS
• One of five sets of the Best of rabble 2009 and Best of rabble 2010 editions
It was indeed the year of the protester. If you value our coverage, please donate. As a non-profit, independent media, we rely on your support.
Sincerely,
Kim Elliott, Publisher, rabble.ca
