Support rabble today by becoming a monthly supporter.

Dear rabble readers,

It’s 2024 and let’s be real – Canadians are changing the way they’re consuming their news.

More and more, people are turning to social media giants like Meta (Facebook and Instagram), X and TikTok to catch up on daily news. On the one hand, this is encouraging! Social media makes it accessible to not only take in the news, but engage with it.

On the other hand, however, these apps rely on algorithms which don’t always share the whole picture of the news cycle. According to the Reuters 2023 Digital News Report, in a survey of over 50,000 people, 48 per cent of people worry about missing important information due to personalized news feeds created by algorithms.

I think a healthy balance is what’s called for.

When you want to take back your news feed, and dive into the conversations that you may be missing, rabble.ca has got you covered.

It’s why I love rabble; for 22 – going on 23 – years, rabble.ca has been my go-to place for current coverage on Canadian politics, social justice and labour stories, Indigenous news and more.

For the past five years, I’ve been co-hosting rabble’s online Off the Hill political panel with Robin Browne. Each month, we invite a progressive group of activists, politicians, economists and journalists to dive deeper into the stories that most matter to Canadians; and every month, I’m inspired by the conversations our audiences and panelists share in this digital space, together.

With your support, rabble can invest in more events and projects like this and continue to meaningfully connect with people across the country. But they can’t do it without help from us.

Would you join me in supporting rabble today?

In solidarity,
Libby Davies
