A Federal Court judge upheld the ban against anti-war British MP George Galloway entering Canada for a speaking tour that was scheduled to begin tonight in Toronto. Despite his ban from the country, the show will go on, with the help of the latest in Web technology.
"Jason Kenney and the Conservative government can ban political figures they disagree with from the country, but they can’t keep their voices from being heard," said rabble.ca publisher Kim Elliott. "rabble is partnering with Mogulus.com in the United States to bring a live webcast of Galloway’s talk live to audiences in Toronto and more than ten other cities," added Elliott.
Hundreds of people are expected to attend the Galloway event in Toronto as planned, and live screening events are planned in at least 10 other cities.
"In addition to these events, anyone with an Internet connection will be able to watch Galloway’s talk live at https://rabble.ca/rabbletv," explained rabble.ca editor Derrick O’Keefe.
"Thanks to Jason Kenney and this draconian move by the Canadian government, this speech will be heard by thousands of people, from coast to coast to coast in Canada," O’Keefe added.
The live webcast is expected to begin at approximately 8 p.m. EST.
NOTE THAT THE NUMBER OF VIEWERS IS LIMITED. THE SPEECH WILL BE REBROADCAST LATER TONIGHT, AND AVAILABLE TO BE VIEWED ON DEMAND.
