The Canadian Radio League was an enormously successful lobbying effort that led to the creation of a public broadcaster in Canada. Began by Graham Spry and Alan Plaunt in 1930, this group was formed to pressure the federal government to adopt the recommendations of the Aird Commission. These efforts led to the establishment of the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission, a forerunner of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, in 1932.
