“…The deadline for the annual Gil Purcell Memorial Journalism Scholarship for Aboriginal Canadians application is November 15, 2013. The $4,000 scholarship was established in 1990 in memory of Gil Purcell, who worked as the general manager of the Canadian Press from 1945-1969. Applicants must be First Nations, Métis or Inuit and should either be enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution in a journalism program or enrolled in another program with a journalistic extra-curricular activity.
The Gillis Purcell Memorial Journalism Scholarship for Native Canadians is offered annually by The Canadian Press.
Scholarship recipients, who must be pursuing a career in journalism through studies at a post-secondary institution, receive $4,000 and an offer of summer employment at The Canadian Press or one of its affiliated companies….”
