Author Archives: Kristen Hanson
Kristen grew up in New Brunswick and attained her BA from St Thomas University. After graduating, she spent eight years working as a Youth Worker and Crisis Counselor in Massachusetts, Toronto and Vancouver Island. This work provided many valuable experiences and lessons, however working to make a difference in the bureaucratic system became wearisome and she set off to explore some of the world. It was many of the things she witnessed and experiences while teaching English in South Korea and traveling South East Asia, which inspired her to become more engaged in her passion of photography. In September of 2009, Kristen took on a role of publicist to assist a friend with the promotion of his book on activism and global issues. Through many rousting conversations during this tour, Kristen decided to be more involved in the pursuit of social justice and she enrolled in the photojournalism program at Loyalist College. With this program she would like to use Photography to serve marginalized groups and promote social justice through media.
