There’s no shortage of issues weighing heavily on the minds of our readers in 2025.
To name just a few: the unsettling uncertainty of strained relations with Canada’s closest ally, the rise of the alt-right, and the daily deluge of alarming reports on the climate crisis that threatens humanity on multiple fronts.
Amid this turbulence, some are acting as if one thing is certain—a Pierre Poilievre prime ministership. But is it?
At rabble, we know elections are never a sure thing. As journalists and students of Canadian politics, we reject complacency. Despite some pundits claiming that only the Conservative Party of Canada —or, as they’ve recently rebranded themselves, Canada’s “Common-Sense Conservatives”— has a chance in the next federal election, we continue to amplify the voices of progressive politicians striving to build a more equitable Canada.
No ballots have been cast yet, and we believe it’s crucial for the media to never assume any party is the “Government-in-Waiting.”
Rigorous journalism is a cornerstone of democracy. With that in mind, we’re asking for your support to help us cover the 2025 Federal Election from a uniquely progressive perspective, holding those who seek Canada’s highest offices accountable.
Your donations help expand and equip our team of excellent journalists, ensuring we can cover all the news you need to know this election year. After all, access to accurate and thoughtfully explained information is the key piece to being an informed voter.
Every donation to rabble –no matter the size– allows us to provide intersectional coverage of the topics our readers care about, from the Labour Issues so many other publications ignore to climate change and gender-based violence. We promise to hold each party accountable for their policies (or in the case of Poilievre’s Conservatives, the lack thereof).
Most importantly, rabble refuses to figuratively call the election before it’s started. Our objective is to cover this election with the vim and vigor the electoral process always deserves.
We intend to do this by producing coverage that comprehensively reports on the race as it develops, and not to stop until every last ballot in Canada is counted…
Support our mission to do so today by becoming a one-time or monthly donor.
Yours in solidarity,
Sarah Sahagian
