At 5 p.m. EST Monday May 7, news arrived that Jaggi Singh was freed on $2,000 bail. The five individuals identified with the Germinal group are still in jail. They were arrested before demonstrations against the Summit of the Americas began in Quebec City. As of 5:30, rabble‘s petition had close to 5,500 confirmed signatures. The petition had been forwarded to Quebec’s Minister of Justice Paul Bégin on Monday morning. A date has not yet been set for Mr. Singh’s trial.
