Dear rabble readers,
I am delighted to take on the role of executive director at rabble.ca. I have been reading this fine publication since I was a teenager, so I am well aware of rabble’s iconic legacy. I plan to work with rabble’s current staff and board members to ensure that legacy of progressive and incisive reporting about issues that matter endures.
My professional background is a mixture of non-profit leadership and freelance journalism. I have led multiple non-profits that, in their own unique ways, worked to create a more equitable world. I have also enjoyed the privilege of writing for such publications as She Does The City, Elle Canada, The Washington Post, and even satirical newspaper, The Beaverton.
Admittedly, my career has been somewhat unconventional, combining my affinity for storytelling with my commitmentment to non-profit leadership. However, I know the research and storytelling skills I have honed through journalism make me a better advocate for the non-profits I lead. And I believe that my non-profit leadership has given me an invaluable perspective on the challenges our society must overcome to create a more equitable world for everyone. I am delighted to combine both halves of my professional life as I serve rabble.ca, a phenomenal publication that operates as a non-profit.
Looking forward, I truly believe that rabble becomes more and more relevant with every passing year. As its tagline reminds us, rabble.ca provides “news for the rest of us.” From reporting on the epidemic of domestic violence to parliamentary affairs others sweep under the rug, rabble is more relevant than ever. I am also proud to work with such a talented team of writers, who tirelessly tell the stories we all need to read.
This year, consider becoming a monthly donor
Regardless of when it happens, 2025 will be an election year for voters in Canada. I am delighted to be working with rabble to empower voters with the information they need to make informed decisions at the ballot box.
Thank you for reading rabble.
Our readers are the lifeblood of this organization. We truly appreciate all of our loyal community members. If you would like to equip us to continue reporting on stories that matter, we would also be honoured if you would consider becoming a monthly donor.
This election year, we need as many rabble rousers as possible to come together so we can be the comprehensive and thoughtful news source Canada needs right now…
Thank you for your ongoing support!
Sarah Sahagian, executive director
