New report: Obama’s percentage of small donors to his campaign almost the same as Bush’s.
News you might have missed:
A new report by the Campaign Finance Institute says that if you look at the numbers it seems that Obama received about the same percentage of small donors (26%) as did Bush in 2004 (25%) (though Obama had a lot more of them). By "small donor" they mean under $200 total giving. There apparently were a lot of folks giving $200 donations and then giving again. While Obama unquestionably raised funds in new ways and had millions of donors, most people giving, it seems, were giving at high levels.
