On Sunday December 30, 2012, in a response to a call out made by Chief Theresa Spence (Attawapiskat First Nation; Ontario), members of the Indigenous community and their allies held a round dance flash mob at 2:00 pm.

Chief Spence has been on a hunger strike since December 11, 2012, and is an integral part of the Idle No More campaign sweeping like a prairie fire across North America.

First Nations, Metis and Inuit communities across Canada have never been and will never be idle; that was a stereotype created by settler-powers-that-be as they conquered Canada. Indigenous communities are always strong, across Canada and across the globe. Ours is a great fire.

In her call out, “Chief Spence is requesting all Canadians and Indigenous People worldwide join in solidarity for ceremonies, events and rallies to call on Prime Minister Harper to answer the call of Aboriginal Nations to meet with Chief Spence and commit to a path of recognition and implementation of the treaty commitments and forging a new First Nations crown relationship. National and International Coordinated events will be planned for Sunday December 30, 2012 at 2 pm Eastern time.

In response to Chief Spence’s call out, a round dance flash mob was swiftly called for the Toronto Eaton Centre where more than 800 people attended.
