This week on rabble radio, rabble labour reporter Gabriela Calugay-Casuga sits down with CUPE Ontario secretary-treasurer Yolanda McClean. The two discuss ways of achieving gender and racial equity inside and outside of Canada’s labour movement. 

The two also discuss CUPE Ontario’s recently launched initiative, Women in Leadership Development (WILD) program for Indigenous, Black and racialized women.

About our guest

Yolanda McClean is the first Black woman to hold either of the two top positions at CUPE Ontario. She is well known in the broader labour movement, serving as one of the two executive vice presidents representing CUPE at the Ontario Federation of Labour and also as the President of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists for Canada. McClean has also served on the CUPE national executive board for a decade as the diversity vice president for racialized members, and now as a regional vice-president for Ontario.
